Dire Dawa
is a city found in Eastern Ethiopia it was established in 1902 this 105 year old city is located 505 kilo meters to the east of Addis Ababa .55 kilo meters to the worth of the history city of Harrar,and 311 kilo meters to the west of port Djibouti on the Indian Ocean, which makes it by far the closet Ethiopia city to the port handling nearly all of the import export business of the country .
Dire Dawa is at present the seat of the chartered city administration of the provisional Administration of Dire Dawa which consist of 9 urban and 29 Rural keble administration .The total land size of the administration is estimated to be 1288.02 km of which 29.24km (2.27%)accounts for the urban areas. while the remaining
1258.78kmor97.73%of the land size of the administration covers its rural areas.
The topography of the area consists of plains.valleys.and mountainous area. the altitudes of which ranges from 960 mast to 2,500 mast. Basically. Dire Dawa has warm. dry and relatively high temperature through out the year with minor seasonal variation. The mean annual temperature is about 24.8EC,while its average maximum and minimum temporaries are31.4EC and 18.2EC respectively.
On the
other hand administration has an average annual rainfall of 676.3m.m.,and the administration is believed to have about 70 rainy days annually.
The administration has at
present an estimated population size of 369,674,of which 185.266 are male, and 184.408 are female. about 70% of the population
resides in urban areas, while the remaining 30%live the rural areas of the admonition
